just a little Catalunya

It isn’t too often when your Spanish or rather Catalan friend’s mother comes to town and says come over for lunch in fact this is a first for both her and me.  It still blows my mind that a prolonged decision in getting a tattoo resulted in bringing a handful of people together for an opportunity to share hometowns and a friendship.  Hard to believe it has been two years since our trip to Spain!  For all of you who are huge seafood fans, be prepared to be enormously jealous.

I was pleased to snap a few pictures of the wonderful spread our friends had prepared and catch up on their California road-trip.  I have to say, I was definitely eyeing what seemed to be a salmon carpaccio presented on the table (a recipe that will be in posts to come).

Did you see it?  The huge inviting pan at the edge of the table?  Here, take a closer look:

spoiled

I can’t tell you how to make it; I’m sorry.  I don’t know the first thing of how to start and frankly I don’t want to learn in hope of this woman having a return visit and inviting me back!  Why not leave it up to the professional?  However, I do want to make sure you know how awesome it is: thin yet firm noodles cooked in a seafood broth jeweled with fresh muscles, shrimp, and squid.  Between that and the lemony season salmon carpaccio, I was drunk on seawater.

Muchas gracias!
