just a little food critic?

Ever since I had to send in my laptop, the photographs and blogging ideas have piled up.  Despite having a wonderful MacBook as a temporary replacement, the idea of hooking up my external and having to back anything that I actually DO on the loaner is discouraging (as much as that also sounds lazy).  I have been writing on my other blog Paper Cuts & Four Letter Words as well as tackling my larger fiction piece that just might one day be called a book.

I have also finally started to read Ruth Reichl’s Garlic and Sapphires.  LOVE IT!  Not only is Ms. Reichl fast-becoming a personal idol but I can’t help feel like perusing downtown for a delicious meal.  Her written voice feels so familiar to me that when reading it I can’t help but imagine myself sitting across the table from her for lunch.  Where would I take her for lunch?  Seersucker seems the obvious choice since it’s San Diego’s newest and hippest restaurant–the “it” place.  However, she’s a woman after my own heart and has a true appreciation for ethnic foods and ethnic food done properly.   It is Wednesday–Ethiopian!  On both Wednesdays and Saturdays, Harar Ethiopian Restaurant offers whole fish deliciously prepared so that the skin is crispy and the meat is soft.  Eating with your hands and Ruth Reichl (truly hoping that the universe hears me right now)!

But who am I to suggest restaurants to Ms. Reichl?  Surely, she would have a recommendation.
